Eden (Anthony, 1897-1977), British Prime Minister 1955-57. Typed Letter Signed, ‘Avon’, Barbados, West Indies, 7 March 1969, to the political biographer George Hutchinson, marked ‘Personal’, Eden writes in connection with his correspondent’s book on Edward Heath and supplies a note for publication (no longer present) adding that he has also sent a copy to Heath, with holograph salutation and subscription, 1 page, 4to, together with: A series of 4 Typed Letters Signed by Douglas Hurd, in his capacity as Private Secretary to Edward Heath, April 1969 to February 1970, all to George Hutchinson, sending copies of articles and speeches and providing other details, in part, ‘The school play in which the Leader played the part of an angel was the Christmas Nativity Play in 1932. But he is not happy about this photograph and unless you are dead set on it would prefer it not to be used’, plus An urgent and confidential memorandum prepared for Heath by Hurd on the subject of Hutchinson’s book, 18 February 1970, in part, ‘Although I have not read the whole book, I have skimmed through it and it seems to meet the main objective, i.e. it is quite an attractive and well-written account of your career… The European chapters are inadequate and far removed from what you will one day write yourself’, with various ink annotations by both Edward Heath and Douglas Hurd, plus a few other related letters from Roy Jenkins and other individuals and two early printed General Election campaign leaflets issued for Heath in 1950 & 1951 (Qty: 16)
