Höhe: 85 cm. Breite: 22,5 cm. Paris, Anfang 19. Jahrhundert.
Jeweils mit einer männlichen und einer weiblichen klassizistisch gekleideten Figur in brünierter Bronze, die sich an eine geformte Fackel lehnt, über einem Marmorsockel in Verde Antico mit figuralen Reliefs in klassizistischer Art über einem vergoldeten rechteckigen Sockel mit Antimonien. Das Modell des vorliegenden Leuchter wurde von François Timothee Martineau entworfen und war Teil einer Uhrengarnitur. Die Garnitur stellt die Uneinigkeit und die Versöhnung dar, wobei der Kandelaber für die Uneinigkeit und die Uhr für die Versöhnung steht. Die Garnitur wurde zuerst von dem Händler Philippe François Devillaine auf den Markt gebracht und später von Gallé und Rieche nachgebildet. Es ist bekannt, dass Napoleon selbst dieses Kandelabermodell mit der Uhrengarnitur für ein Schlafzimmer im Schloss von Saint-Cloud, während der Konsulatszeit, bestellt hat (J.D. Each candelabra with a male and a female figure in neoclassical attire in burnished bronze, leaning against a sculpted torch, on a Verde Antico marble base with figural reliefs in neoclassical style on a gilt rectangular base with antimonies. The model of the present candelabra was designed by François Timothee Martineau and was part of a clock set. The set represents discord and reconciliation, with the candelabra depicting discord and the clock reconciliation. The set was first marketed by the dealer Philippe François Devillaine and later copied by Gallé and Rieche. It is known that Napoleon himself ordered this candelabra and clock set model for a bedroom in the castle of Saint-Cloud during the Consular Period (J.D.
