EKEMM, England A New GLOBE of the EARTH from the best Authorities by EKEMM [c.1790] A rare 2-inch (7cm.) diameter miniature terrestrial globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores, the equatorial, Greenwich meridian and anti-meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days, the oceans showing the tracks of Captains Cook, Clerke, Gore and King, with dates, a note by Hawaii reading Owyhee where Cook was Killed 1779 , the South Pole showing Ice at the southernmost point of one of Cook's tracks, the continents outlined in green or red, with North America shaded green, the rest of the land masses in yellow, showing some European cities and place names on other continents, Australia with projected southern coastline, Columbia labelled TERRA FIRMA , North America with projected northern coastline ( areas of varnish and paint loss, no paper damage ) with iron axis pins, in turned mahogany box, the domed lid with flat knop -- 4in.
