GUSSONI & DOTTI, Milan, 1892 GLOBO CELESTE compilato sui Cataloghi di HEIS e GOULD dall'Ing r E. Pini GUSSONI & DOTTI Editori, Milano 1892 E. Kerbs Inc. Lib. Gualassini Bertarel A rare 9-inch (22.9cm.) diameter celestial table globe made up of twelve delicately colour printed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and the equinoctial colure graduated in degrees, the ecliptic ungraduated, the constellations depicted in pale dark green by mythical beasts, figures and scientific instruments, on a dark green/blue ground, labelled in Italian, the stars in hand-applied gilt to various orders of magnitude and labelled with Greek characters ( some old cracks around equator and at South Pole, South Polar calotte too large with subsequent overlapping and loss of detail ), with graduated but unnumbered brass meridian half-circle, raised on a simple ebonised baluster turned column and plinth base -- 18in.
