Early 19th-century maroon straight-grained morocco, tooled in gilt and blind, g.e. The majority of this fine collection, by three different hands, are of marine fish. The subjects of the watercolours are as follows: Carp; Member of the Carp family; Tripodfish; Flagtail; Parrotfish; Wedge Picassofish; Blackbelly Picassofish; Surge Demoiselle; Perch; Goat fish. Numbers 3, 4 and 8 are versions of images found on plates XV, XXII and VII in John Whitchurch Bennett's A Selection of the most remarkable and interesting fishes found on the coast of Ceylon , published in London between 1828 and 1830.
