Dimitri Ermakov was active as a professional photographer as of 1868 and he traveled to various regions of Georgia, the Caucasus, Persia, Turkey and central Asia. Ermakov is the most important documentartist of Georgian life of the nineteenth and early twentieth century. A small part of Ermakov's negatives are in the collection of the National Museum of Georgia. This image shows wagons on the way from Russia to Georgia via the Transcaucasian mountains on the Georgian Military Road. – Some handling marks, backed tear in left edge, otherwise in good condition.
