essay 50 Cigars 1880 Patent Essay, the Brooks patent essay consisting of two typographed sheets (183 x 63 mm.) pasted together along one edge, the bottom sheet with an illustration of 50 separate miniature cigars, numbered and with instructions to 'detach one of the cigar coupons for each cigar taken from this box at the time of removal'. The essay is positioned at a right angle to a used 50 Cigars Series 1878 stamp, the stamp and essay are affixed to thin card, additionally there is a strip of woven silk between the backing card and the stamp to serve as a 'rip-cord' style canceling device, some creases, otherwise very fine , extremely rare and completely intact, see Turner C-71 which represents only a small portion of this patent essay est.
