La présence d’anges dans certaines de ces compositions peut être interprétée comme le symbole de cette maternité rêvée. Le lot de dessins que nous présentons aujourd'hui s'impose tant par la qualité des esquisses, très abouties et cependant encore tributaires des réflexions de l'artiste, que par leur impressionnante quantité. La mise en vente de l'intégralité de ce corpus offre un cheminement à l'intérieur même de la réflexion d'Alix Aymé, chaque figure, chaque détail faisant l'objet d'au moins une feuille d'étude. Celle dont la réputation n'est plus à faire s'inscrit délibérément dans le sillage des plus grands maîtres fresquistes: comme eux réalisaient des études préparatoires sur des cartons à l'échelle reportés sur le mur, Alix Aymé prépare minutieusement les motifs de la laque sur ses calques qu'elle reporte ensuite sur le panneau. Il faut remarquer également que bon nombre de ces études est mis au carreau, afin qu'elle soit à même de reproduire ensuite le motif, à l'échelle, sur le matériau final. The batch of drawings presented today are impressive for the quality of the sketches - highly accomplished yet still influenced by the artist's thoughts - and their impressive quantity. The sale of this entire corpus takes us on an inward journey through Aymé's approach, where each figure and detail are the subjects of at least one study. The artist, who needs no introduction, delib­erately followed in the footsteps of the great fresco masters. Just as they made preparatory sketches with life-sized cartoons that were then transferred to the wall, Aymé meticulously prepared her motifs on tracing paper, and then transferred them to the panel. It is worth noting that many of these studies were squared up, so that she could then reproduce the motif to scale on the final material.
