S4; Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 The Meissen manufactory purchased the model of this figure on 20 March 1922 for RM 15,000, though it is likely that Scheurich had completed it sometime earlier. A companion figure, 'Orientalin mit Flöte' (see preceding lot), was delayed because Scheurich fell ill from August 1923, and so the figure of the man with cockatoo was sold from Summer 1923 without its companion. By the end of 1931 69 examples had been sold.
