Figure en porcelaine représentant un Turc assis fumant une pipe à eau, Meissen, circa 1927-1933 A Meissen figure a seated Turk with a water-pipe, circa 1927-1933Modelled by Paul Scheurich seated cross-legged on a yellow cushion, the bearded figure wearing a turban, a yellow-lined jacked edged in blue, trousers decorated with gilt flowers and blue dots and blue slippers, 6.5cm high, crossed swords mark with dot between the tips in blue, incised model number A1147, painter's number 15 in purpleFootnotesExhibited: Meissen, Museum der Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung, Paul Scheurich Porzellangestalter Zeichner Grafiker, 6 March 2020-21 February 2021 The model was sold by Käthe Scheurich to the Meissen manufactory on 4 November 1926 for RM 500, though the model dates to before Scheurich's illness in August 1923. It was initially sold undecorated, but in Autumn 1927 the manufactory decided to proceed with a coloured version without Scheruich's design. It is probable that Scheurich corrected the colouring (Rafael 1995a, no. 29).
