The 68-year old Director of Works, Privy Conucillor of Mines Dr. Heintze, returned them to the artist without informing the manufactory's then Commerical Director, Max Adolf Pfeiffer, with the remark that "the manufactory has enough naked figures." All three models were a commercial success for the Berlin manufactory (Rafael 2018, p. 39). See footnote to lot 14.
