FIREPLACES AND GRATES. [London: no printer, c.1760]. (191 x 198mm). A collection of 72 engraved illustrations on 40 plates, 2 folding, one by J. Best after W. Grayson (this latter torn, repaired and mounted, some spotting and staining). Modern old-style calf gilt. An interesting copy of this rare work without text and very likely to be the maker's sample book. Almost all of the illustrations have some explanation and almost all are priced in code and in clear. 6 illustrations at the end are of ironwork and one plate at the beginning, containing 12 fender designs, has probably been inserted as it does not form part of the numeration of the other plates. Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
