Der Ausstieg des Morgenlandes (The Awakening of Asia), translated by Werner-Otto-von Hentig, original cloth-backed boards, Leipzig, 1921 § Niedermayer (Oskar Ritter von) Unter der Glutsonne Irans, Hamburg, [c.1925]; Im Weltkrieg vor Indiens Toren, Hamburg, 1936 § Tuohy (Ferdinand) The Crater of Mars, 1929 § Cato (Conrad) The Navy Everywhere, 1919 § Hall (Melvin) Journey to the End of an Era, 1948, some first editions, some maps, plates and illustrations, some browning, all but the fourth original cloth, the eighth faded, the first three and last with dust-jackets, a little rubbed; and c.10 others concerning Wassmuth, von Hentig and the German secret diplomacy in Central Asia during the First World War, 8vo (c.20) *** Wilhelm Wassmuss (1880-1931) was a German diplomat and secret agent deployed by the Kaiser during the First World War to stir up the tribes of Persia and Central Asia in a Holy War against Britain and Russia, as related in Hopkirk's book On Secret Service East of Constantinople. Werner-Otto-von Hentig and Oskar Ritter von Niedermayer led the secret diplomatic mission to Kabul in 1915. According to correspondence loosely inserted and various notes by Hopkirk in the books, von Hentig's younger brother, Hans, later a criminologist, "commanded the machine-gun unit whose courage Lawrence immortalized in 'Seven Pillars of Wisdom', p.653/5".
