Beschreibung:

first edition, signed presentation copy from the author to Dennis Wheatley with the famous bookplate of Dennis Wheatley on front pastedown, some spotting mostly to margins to earlier and later ff., original cloth, an excellent copy, dust-jacket, spine slightly sunned with small split at foot, but otherwise a very good example, 8vo, 1932. *** An excellent association copy, particularly given Hilton’s own enthusiastic review for Wheatley’s horror classic The Devil Rides Out: “The best of its kind since Dracula” (The Daily Telegraph, 1934). The Wheatley bookplate was designed by artist & illustrator Frank C. Papé, depicting the author sat before a cloven-hoofed Gordon Eric Gordon-Tombe in the Garden of Eden.
