This contract, written six weeks after he was originally hired by Paramount, refers to the rewrites he was additionally commissioned to do—and also confirms that the finished product has been delivered. In part: “Dear Mr. Fitzgerald: / This will confirm our agreement as follows: / 1. That after the termination of your employment agreement with the undersigned corporation dated March 1, 1939, you and the undersigned corporation agreed that you would render your services as an employee of the undersigned corporation, to write certain additional material in connection with the screen play of the motion picture photoplay tentatively entitled AIR RAID for a total compensation of One Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00). / 2. That all other provisions of your employment agreement with the undersigned corporation dated March 1, 1939 will be applicable to the employment referred to in Paragraph 1 hereof, and to the material written by you pursuant thereto. / 3. That you have completed and delivered to the undersigned corporation said additional material. / 4. That you do hereby acknowledge receipt of the sum of One Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00) as payment in full in accordance with the employment agreement referred to in Paragraph 1 hereof.” See illustration.
