(Folio) 32x20 cm (12½x8") period full calf, gilt-lettered spine label. Second Edition. First published in 1665. John Ray (d.1681) was an English gardener and writer, he was reputed to have had the largest collection of tulips in England. Wing R422. This copy from the library of Wilfrid Blunt, author of "Great Flower Books," etc. With his name of front flyleaf dated 1948, and a later gift inscription from Blunt to fellow author of botanical literature, Ray Desmond dated 1985. Lot Amendments Condition: Restoration to spine, some light wear; dampstain to plates and first few leaves of text; very good. Item number: 270690
