Title: French and Indian War Manuscript Call to Arms, 1758 Author: Place: New Hampshire Publisher: Date: 1758 Description: Manuscript 3½x6½" Call to Arms which reads: "Province of New Hampshire, This is to order you Sargent Jeremiah Ron (sp?) in his majestys name to worn all the tran solgers and ofecrs under my command to appear at my house with arms and ammunition according to law on tomorah at ten of the clock in the forenoon fail not in making du return to me of this year -----?" Dated April the 26, 1758, John Dudley, Capt. A rare survivor of early America, written in a vernacular that disregards modern spelling. Very good, with some early contemporary handwriting on the reverse by one Jonathan Thing, dated 1759, indicating good use of paper as a scarce commodity in colonial America.
