French Dore Bronze Figural Mantle Clock. Exceptional quality French empire dore bronze case with figure of a man and woman standing side by side wearing classical garments and holding hands; they stand in front of a large archway with winged griffin supports under a bench seat, leafy side corbels and figural swans at the top holding a garland strand below the clock dial, all on a green marble base. 5.5 in. porcelain dial signed "Bailly, a Paris" has a bronze bezel, black roman hour numerals, open moon hands and sweep seconds; large round brass spring driven movement with half hour strike on a bell, Graham deadbeat escapement and a fine quality grid iron pendulum hanging from a knife edge suspension. In good condition, running and striking, casting is of the finest quality with an excellent finish; has a repair at the top of the rear bezel and cutout at the top of the tub to allow the fitting of this pendulum suspension setup. 23.25 in. high x 15.75 in. wide x 7.5 in. deep. Weight: 75.75 lbs.
