Title: French map of Germany used to note Soviet (and American?) troop movements on Russia's Eastern Front at war's end Author: Place: Publisher: Date: 1944-45 Description: Carte Blondel: Allemagne [Germany]. 24 x 25” (folded down to 4 x 6”) French map on stiff vinyl-like paper (Blondel de Rougery, Paris, ca. 1944). Written in red pencil are Soviet Russian troop movements in Germany and Czechoslovakia, with the names of Russian commanders (Malinovsky, Zhukov, Konaev, Rokossvsky, et al) and one date – May 6 [1945], the day the Soviet battle for Prague began, just before the Nazi German capitulation. The notation “3rd Army” may also refer to the only US troop unit to reach the Soviet Eastern Front. This was almost certainly a battlefront map possibly used by US Intelligence officers watching Soviet movements in enemy territory reserved (by fateful political agreement) for Russian occupation. Lot Amendments Condition: Very good. Item number: 276270
