FREUD, Sigmund--A late 19th-/early 20th-century [?]Austrian malacca cane with curved, silvered-metal handle impressed with diamond-pattern decoration, stamped mark of 'O' within diamond-shaped cartouche (handle dented, a little tarnished, plating rubbed, later rubber ferrule). Provenance : Sigmund Freud (by repute; by descent to Freud's son:) -- Jean Martin Freud (1889-1967, to his partner, F.M. Freud; a gift from her to the vendor). A CANE SAID TO BE FREUD'S, FORMERLY THE PROPERTY OF MARTIN FREUD, and his partner Margaret Freud. This lot and lots 105-106 (a series of letters from Anna Freud and a copy of Freud's will with amendments by Anna Freud), were formerly the property of Margaret Freud, the partner of Freud's second son Martin Freud, author of the novel Parole d'honneur (London: 1939), and the biographical Glory Reflected. Sigmund Freud--Man and Father (London: 1957), and were given by her to the vendor, a neighbour and friend.
