FRITZ BUHLER (1909-1963) SERVIZIO METEOROLOGICO. 1952. 49x35 inches, 124 1/2x89 cm. Wassermann, Basel. Condition B+: repaired tears and minor losses at edges; abrasions in image. A prolific poster designer based in Basel, Buhler worked for many of the most recognizable firms, such as P.K.Z., Union, Nivea and others. He had a diverse style, but, as is seen here, he was fluent with the concept the Neue Sachlichkeit (The New Objectivity), and also no stranger to surrealism. This announcement for getting weather reports over the phone shows a hyper-realistic phone against a background of changing skies. Swiss Posters p. 96.
