Titles printed in red and black, engraved frontispiece and 2 plates, woodcut headpieces and initials, list of subscribers (some browning and spotting). 20th-century half calf (head of spine worn). Provenance : Paul H. Beves. First collected edition. Foxon p.295. HOMER. The Iliads and Odysses ... Translated ... by Tho. Hobbes . London: for W. Crook, 1686. 12°. Engraved frontispiece from the 1677 edition (rather cut down at fore-margin, top margins cut close, a little discolouration and spotting). Contemporary panelled calf, gilt spine (lacks label, a little rubbed). Provenance : as above. Third edition of Hobbes's translation. Wing H2552. And 5 other volumes. (7)
