Newly revised, augmented, explained and enriched.... New York: E. Metcalf, 1813. Translated by E. Metcalf. Folio (366 x 232 mm). Bound manuscript. 59 ll, recto and verso, text and sheet music. Period reverse calf. Calf solander box elegantly patterned after original binding, morocco spine label. Some faint offsetting, light dust-soiling, binding chipped and worn, upper cover detached. Provenance: Albert Will Ross (period ownership signature); Albert Earl Southworth (owndership signature). An unpublished manuscript translation of Geminiani's L'art du violon; ou, methode raisonnee pour aprendre a bien jouer de cet instrument (Paris: 1803), by a musical scholar and enthusiast who identifies himself only as "E. Metcalf," written in a careful script, with numerous pages of musical notation neatly drawn.
