Deutscher Maler und Grafiker des 20. Jahrhunderts. Besuchte die Kunstgewerbeschule in Nürnberg, arbeitete als Restaurator im Atelier Altheimer in Regensburg. 1920 Rückkehr nach Passau, als Kunsterzieher am Gymnasium tätig. Mitglied der Künstlergruppe der Fels, wie auch Fritz Fuhrken, Franz Bronstert, Reinhard Hilker und Carry Hauser. 1923/24 auch Mitglied der Gruppe der 6 und ab 1947 Mitglied der Donauwaldgruppe, wie auch Hermann Erbe-Vogel, August Philipp Henneberger, Reinhold Koeppel, Walter Mauder, Wilhelm Niedermayer und Heinz Theuerjahr. 1927 bis 1938 auch Mitglied des Hagenbundes. Frühe Einflüsse des Impressionismus, Anfang der 1920er Jahre Entwicklung in Richtung Expressionismus und Kubismus. In den 1930er Jahren Arbeiten im Stil der Neuen Sachlichkeit, danach entstanden wieder expressionistische Werke. Schuf Landschaften, Porträts und Aktdarstellungen und im Spätwerk auch abstrakte Arbeiten.

Attended the School of Arts and Crafts in Nuremberg, worked as a restorer in the Altheimer studio in Regensburg. 1920 Returned to Passau, worked as an art teacher at the Gymnasium.
