George Jones Majolica Pelican Sardine Box, Cover and Stand Circa 1875 GJ monogram to box and stand, several small cyphers, raised registry diamonds (26-S-M-2) for 26 June 1875, parcel 2 black painted shape no.'s 3441, painters 30, 11 and 33 Of oblong hexagonal form edged by bamboo, the cover knop modeled as a pelican at rest above a paneled design of pelicans in flight among foliage, the side similar molded with fish among aquatic plants, on a conforming stand. Height overall 5 1/4 inches; width of stand 8 1/2 inches. Provenance: Linda Ketterling, Toledo, OH, 26 January 2003. Literature: Majolica International Society, Karmason Library, no. KL000464.
