Beschreibung:

Illustrated in b&w and in color. With signed and numbered lithograph loose in folder (4to), morocco-backed boards lettered in gilt on spine. Presented in publisher's cloth-covered clamshell box stamped with George Tooker's signature in blind, lettered in gilt on spine. No. 18 of an edition limited to 250 copies. First Edition. Signed by George Tooker on a plate mounted to the acknowledgments page, as issued. Lithograph signed by Tooker also numbered 18 of 250. George Clair Tooker, Jr. (1920-2011) was an American figurative painter. His works are associated with Magic Realism, Social Realism, Photorealism and Surrealism. His subjects are depicted naturally as in a photograph, but the images use flat tones, an ambiguous perspective, and alarming juxtapositions to suggest an imagined or dreamed reality. Previous owner's rubber stamp and card pocket on front pastedown with embossed stamp on title page.
