GEROLD HUNZIKER (1894-1980) BUGATTI. 1932. 50 3/4x35 1/2 inches, 129x90 1/4 cm. A. Trüb & Cie., Aarau. Condition A- / A: small repaired tears at left edge. Hunziker studied art in his native Switzerland and was best known as a painter, muralist, illustrator and stage designer. In addition to the posters he designed (he created a large number for Bally), he ultimately made his name as a painter of horses and equestrian scenes. This, his most famous poster design, takes a dramatic angle and unexpected colors to depict the front of a Bugatti type 55 Roadster (which itself was based on company's type 51 Grand Prix car). Affiches Automobiles p. 58, 2nd Salon Automobile 78.
