Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos St Jacques--Vintage 1990
2 bottles per lot
Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos St Jacques--Vintage 1990 Côte de Nuits, Louis Jadot "It produced a profound Gevrey-Chambertin-Clos St.-Jacques. Andre Gagey, who, along with his son, Pierre-Henri- and their winemaker, Jacques Lardiere, participated in the tasting, announced he had put considerable quantities of this particular wine in his cellar to "help get him through his retirement." The color is a saturated dark ruby. The nose explodes from the glass, offering a melange of scents, including black-raspberries, toasty new oak, cloves, vanilla, and candy. In the mouth, there is astonishing richness, a thick, well-defined texture, and a flamboyant, moderately tannic finish that lasts well over a minute. The personality hallmarks of the 1990 vintage, the chewy, super-ripe character of the Pinot Noir and terrific richness, are beautifully displayed in this wine." Wine Advocate # 83 Oct 1992 2 bottles per lot
