G.G. Grant. A rare and unusual gilt brass two-day marine timepiece with regulator dial, power reserve, split seconds chronograph and special time setting mechanism Signed G.G. Grant, London, Invenit et Fecit A.D. 1897, Recedens Etiam Progredior, manufactured in 1897 With gilt brass full plate jewelled two-day keywound lever movement, chain fusée, bimetallic compensation balance with segmental weights, the escapement mounted on a carriage able to be rotated by the means of a key with the purpose of effecting fine adjustment of the time, all visible through a glazed aperture in the base, the silvered regulator dial with outer ring calibrated for the Arabic five minute divisions, single blued steel spade hand, three small subsidiary dials indicating split seconds functions, hours with Roman numerals and single blued steel hands and 48 hour power reserve, in large and heavy drum-shaped water-resistant-type case with screw bezel, button for operating the split seconds function and winder for the fine adjustment of the seconds in the band, movement wound and hours set through the apertures in the screw base, dial signed 127 mm. diam. & 84 mm. overall height
