Giovanni Grubacs Venice 1829 - 1919Night-time view of the Rialto on the Feast of the Redentore signed lower left: Gruba[c]soil on canvascanvas: 29 1/4 by 41 1/2 in.; 74.3 by 105.4 cm.framed: 35.5 by 48 in.; 74.3 by 121.9 cm.Condition reportThe canvas is either unlined or very thinly lined and stable on its stretcher. The image reads well beneath clear varnish with impasto preserved throughout the lower half of the composition. 3 small spots of repair are visible to the naked eye in the upper right quadrant in the sky. Under UV inspection, retouching in the areas surrounding the 3 small spots is visible, as well as very few scattered dots and thin lines in the dark sky, a few on the column at the extreme left, and a few to reinforce waves in the water. Overall the painting is in good condition and is ready to hang. Offered in a carved giltwood frame with decorative corners. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale. The
