God the Father and King David historiated initials on two bifolia from an Antiphonary, in Latin, illuminated manuscript on vellum [Silesia (Wrocław), c.1415-20] two bifolia, each leaf approximately 390mm. by 290mm, with two historiated initials by Jan z Żytawy: (a) initial ‘D’ (opening Psalm 39, "Dixi custodiam vias meis …"; and (b) initial ‘D’ (opening Psalm 110, "Dixit dominus domino meo …", the first Psalm for Sunday Vespers), formed of acanthus on burnished gold grounds within profile frames, coloured spiralling acanthus including flowers extending into the margins, enclosing God the Father Enthroned and King David holding a Book, two columns, 36 lines, written space 280mm. by 183mm., capitals in yellow, rubrics in red, one-line initials in red or blue, 2-line initials in red with purple pen-flourishing or in blue with red pen-flourishing, both leaves with prickings in outer margins and in original or nearly-original dimensions, vellum cockled, illumination slightly rubbed, one bifolium with flaking ink
