Graeco-Roman Marble Bust of a Noble 1st century BC-1st century AD An expressive bust of a mature nobleman with curly hair gracefully framing his face, the sides falling on the shoulders of the pleated toga, furrowed forehead and prominent nasolabial folds; mounted on custom-made stand. 16.6 kg total, 38cm including stand (15"). Fine condition. Provenance Property of an South Oxfordshire, UK collector; acquired from Parthenon Gallery in 2011; previously with C.J. Martin; ex Delorme & Collin Du Bocage, 13 May 2011, lot 171; ex French collection; formerly in a 1970s British collection; accompanied by a copy of the relevant Delorme & Collin Du Bocage catalogue page and Parthenon Gallery invoice and an academic report by Dr. Raffaele D’Amato.
