Grande e raro gruppo scultoreo in legno laccato e dorato raffigurante il pantheon taoista Cina, Dinastia Qing (1644-1911), ca. 1900 costituito da una grande aura a guglie fiammeggianti dalla quale sporgono ventuno mensole, su ognuna delle quali si trova una divinità. I registri superiori mostrano intagli a forma di nuvola, quelli inferiori a forma di rocce. Alcune statuette presentano dettagli in crine, tessuto e perline (difetti e mancanze) A large and rare lacquered and gilt-wood figural group of the Taoist gods. China, Qing Dynasty circa 1900 (cm 217x123xca. 52) A similar piece dated to mid-Qing Dynasty and originated from the now vanished temple Yuanmiao Guan is kept in the Guangdong Provincial Museum. Cfr. Centre for Studies of Daoist Culture, "The studio and the Altar: Daoist Art in China" exhibition in 2008 Another one dated to 1903 is shown at the Museo PIME in Milan and catalogued as "Daoist lacquered camphor wood pantheon". The milanese missionary started introducing religious culture of countries where they served their mission from the beginning of the 20th century until now. The current lot was in fact purchased from the missionary in the 1950s The piece is easy to disassemble and be transported
