Rare first editions. The second work, not found in any bibliography, is the translation of 'Consolation to Apollonius' by Plutarch, a reflection on the fall of human life that indicates how to deal with serenity the pain of loss. The script is devoted to the Chancellor of France Antoine Duprat and does not include numbering pages or typographical indications: this is probably the specimen of an opera recited in Milan before it was given to prints, a custom recorded by Tiraboschi. The first work dedicated to Jean Grolier, secretary of King Francis I, is an erudite dialogue concerning the classical culture of Greece, rich in citations from the greatest Greek writers of antiquity; is accompanied by a copious index and a glossary of Greek phraseology. Tiraboschi: ?Ei fu lungamente professore di belle lettere in Milano; e bramò poscia di esser destinato alla cattedra di lingua greca ? ottenne dappoi ciò che bramava; e ne son pruova le Orazioni da lui recitate innanzi alla spiegazione di Omero e di Pindaro, che abbiamo alle stampe. Il Negri era stato già scolaro di Demetrio, di cui egli parla con molta lode nel suo Dialogo, in cui introduce tre fratelli, Giovanni, Girolamo e Lodovico Botti, encomiati dal Negri, che pur era stato loro maestro, come giovani amantissimi dello studio e di tutti gli uomini dotti, a ragionare insieme con Demetrio sulle cose più notabili nella Grecia, delle quali tratta Pausania. Le altre opere del Negri, che sono per lo più traduzioni di vari opuscoli di Musonio, di Filostrato, di Plutarco, d'Isocrate e d'altri scrittori greci, e che furono stampate in Milano nel 1517 e nel 1521.?
