The group was purchased for RM 1,600 and first produced in porcelain in Autumn 1930, probably painted by Scheurich in Meissen. The group was exhibited in Spring 1931 at the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Dresden. The surviving records of royalty payments record the first sales only in 1946 (Rafael 1995a, no. 37).
