Beschreibung:

Handel Company Patinated Metal and Bent Slag Glass Overlay "Red Roses" Lamp Height overall 22 3/4 inches, height of shade 7 3/4 inches, width of shade 18 inches. C
Shade: appears to be in generally good condition; no apparent hairline cracks, breaks, chips, etc., to any of the glass slag glass panels; one or perhaps two of the larger caramel colored slag glass panels may or may not be later replacements; one of these slag glass panels in particular is made up of a lot of opaque white colored glass with some caramel colored banding within it; this particular panel is in contrast to the other related panels (see photograph of the panel, i.e., see panel in the 9 o'clock to 10 o'clock position); there are differences among the green colored slag glass panels that comprise the border; accordingly, some of the panels may or may not be original; some of the glass panel segments are now somewhat loose; there is wear/rubbing to the patina to the metal frame elements, including the ribs; there are remnants of gilding on the overlay in the roses border, indicating at least this part of the shade overlay was originally gilt; the main part of the metal overlay in the geometric brick overlay area may also originally have been gilt; the patina in this area is predominantly mottled green and brown; no apparent losses to the metal overlay; no apparent signature or Handel metal tag Base: this lamp has three light sockets; the light sockets appear to be later replacements; one of the light sockets is loose and is partially dangling; all three light sockets are currently in good working condition, including the the three pull chains, however, this status may be altered during the course of the exhibition; accordingly, please assume the light sockets may or may not be in good working condition; the metal cap and finial appear to be later replacements and may not be Handel parts (there are differences to the finish/patina between the shade, cap and finial); there there is a good amount of wear/scratching and scuffing to the patina; there is no base plate; there does not appear to be any Handel signature on the base; the base is made of pot metal, i.e., not bronze
