HOMANN, Heirs of Johann Baptist. Atlas mapparum geographicarum. Nuremburg: [circa 1762]. 2° (530 x 345mm). Mounted on guards throughout. Text in German. Engraved additional title (dated 1762), title, 1p. index of maps in Latin and German, portrait of Homann, 3 double-page hand-coloured engraved tables, 93 double-page hand-coloured engraved maps only (of 97, lacking Europe, Bohemia, the planispheric star-chart and the Coppernican world map, many maps with manuscript index tabs. Some maps with small tears at folds, some margins torn away.) Publisher's limp sheep, titled on upper cover (scuffed). An attractive Homann atlas in a travelling binding of limp sheep, with the sensible addition of tabs to locate maps. The atlas has a fine selection of maps from the renowned Nuremberg publishing house of Homann, including maps by Lowitz, Hasius, De Lisle, Valk, Nolin, Tillemon, Mayer and d'Anville. Cf.
