5 Autograph Letters Signed and 1 Typed Letter Signed ("George"), 10 pp, 4to, various places including Athens, Mexico City, Madrid, and off the coast of Central Africa, October 31, 1948 to September 10, 1962, to George Cukor, 2 letters on hotel stationery, some dampstaining to latest two letters, toning throughout. Together with Photograph Signed ("George"), 8 x 10 inch silver print by Ross Carmichael (stamp to verso), of Huene seated at desk with script, inscribed to Kirk, 1963. Provenance: Estate of Charles Williamson and Tucker Fleming. Intriguing group of letters from the photographer to the director, asking questions about their celebrity friends, including "Larry and Vivien" and "Miss Brown" [Greta Garbo]; discussing his work in Europe photographing Ava Gardner during the production of 55 Days at Peking; and describing the general malaise of Europe during the post-war era, and reiterating his love for California.
