L'exposition présentait des animaux vivants peints, des camionnettes de police écrabouillées, des monuments et une multitude d'oeuvres originales. Elle ne resta ouverte que quelques jours, dans la mesure où Banksy était recherché par la police, qui était constamment présente lors de l'événement. Dans cette installation, plusieurs ‘Flying Coppers' (‘Flics volants') furent réalisés, chacun représentant une oeuvre unique peinte à la main et suspendue de façon précaire au plafond au-dessus des foules rassemblées. Cette oeuvre remarquableque nous présentons fournit une occasion rare d'avoir un Banksy certifié et faisant partie de l'installation d'une exposition, dont les réalisations n'étaient pas destinées à être vendues. Seules quelques-unes ont survécu Encore moins nombreuses sont les oeuvres, y compris celle-ci, qui ont été certifiées par l'artiste pour être vendues. Sur cette représentation forte, un policier, habillé en tenue anti-émeutes avec de petites ailes et des émoticônes jaunes et souriants, porte une mitraillette. L'attirail militaire rappelle les images des émeutes de rues partout dans le monde. La juxtaposition du ‘flic' militaire en situation de contrôle et de son visage rendu joyeux par l'acide, en référence aux ‘rave parties', pourrait être interprétée comme une allusion aux ‘flics' arrivés au septième ciel, au sens métaphorique et littéral du terme. Cela pourrait être aussi une critique sociale sur le contrôle militaire opprimant constamment les ‘rave parties', et cela partout dans le monde. L'installation ‘Turf War' - ‘Flying Coppers' est illustrée pages 12 & 13. This work was part of an installation for Banksy's infamous exhibition ‘Turf War' in Dalston, London in 2003. The exhibition which featured live painted animals, smashed up police vans, monuments and a host of original works was only open for a few days as Banksy was a wanted man by the police, who were ever present at the exhibition. As part of the installation, several Flying Copper's were produced, each hand painted unique work was suspended from the ceiling hanging precariously above the gathering masses below. This outstanding piece provides a rare opportunity to own an authenticated Banksy that was part of an installation of an exhibition and as they were never intended for sale, only a few survive and even less, this one included, was authenticated by the artist for sale. In this strong image, a police officer, dressed in full riot gear with little wings and a yellow smiley face holds a machine gun, the military attire is reminiscent of images of the street riots throughout the world. The juxtaposition of the controlling military copper with the happy acid face, synonymous with the rave scene, could be interpreted as coppers flying high, metaphorically and literally suspended from the ceiling but also as a social commentary on the ever oppressing militarized control of the police within the rave scene and around the world.
