Each volume with engraved title page dated 1757; engraved frontispiece in Vol. I; 110 engraved plates within the volumes; engraved pictorial tailpieces. (8vo) 17.7x12 cm (7x4¾"), 18th/early 19th century full red morocco with triple gilt filet borders, spines tooled in gilt, gilt inner dentelles, all edges gilt. Elegant edition of Boccaccio's masterwork, the engravings, chiefly after the drawings of Hubert François Bourguignon, called Gravelot, by J. Aliamet, L.S. Lempereur, and other eighteenth century engravers. The tailpieces in vols. 2-5 are dated between 1758-61. Armorial bookplates. Each volume with small label with library call numbers on rear pastedown. Condition: A little rubbing and slight fading to spines, Vol. IV top corner of front cover slightly bumped; Vol. V with a few leaves at rear with indents and a few slight tears to gutter margin; near fine, an attractive set.
