Interesting antique ukulele, probably Tahitian circa 1900, with marquesan carved decoration to the top and sides, 4.75" diameter bridge board and heart shaped sound hole to the reverse * Sold with a hand-written note reputing that this ukulele was formerly the property of French post impressionist artist Eugene Henri Paul Gauguin circa 1900. 'This instrument was probably carved in the Marquesan style at Atuona on Hiva Oa Island where Gauguin spent his last years. He died on the 8th May 1903. H
