Contemporary polished tree-calf, sides with gilt roll-tooled border and centred with the Russian imperial eagle, flat spine gilt in compartments, green morocco label, edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Provenance : Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich (1827-1892; his bookplate at the Marble Palace) -- Academy for the History of Material Culture (stamps, some deleted). GRAND DUKE KONSTANTIN NIKOLAEVICH'S COPY, from his collection at the Marble Palace. Grand Duke Konstantin, second son of Nicholas I, was Viceroy of Poland and assisted his brother Alexander II in emancipating the serfs.
