IVAN IVANOVICH SHISHKIN (1832–1898) FOREST STILL LIFE Starting price: 200 000 CZK (7 407 EUR) Hammer price: 600 000 CZK (22 222 EUR) Description dimensions: 33,5 x 50,5 cm (h x w) period: Around 1880, Russia Shishkin is considered one of the main exponents of Russian landscape painting in the second half of the 19th century. He initially studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, and later transferred to the Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts. He graduated with a gold medal and received a scholarship to study in Europe, which he used to travel to Switzerland and Germany. In 1873 he became a professor at the Saint Petersburg Academy, where he remained until his death. Oil on paper, glued to cardboard, signed on bottom right with his initials in Cyrillic "И Ш". Exhibition label in Cyrillic on back.
