A ship's passport with vignettes of an American frigate and harbor scene, allowing the ship "...Brandt of New Bedford...to Pass with her Company Passengers, Goods and Merchandise without any hindrance, seisure or molestation..." A New Bedford whaler's maiden voyage. The Brandt made more than eleven whaling voyages before being lost in the Galapagos Islands in 1853.
