Untitled, 1979. Signed and dated on the reverse. Oil on canvas. 170×170 cm. Unframed. A certificate by Mr Jacques Elbaz issued on the 22nd of May 2019 is following this lot. Jean-Pierre Pincemin was one of the leading French artists of his generation. Until the age of 23, he worked as a factory metal turner. He gave up this job to pursue his great passion and urge to create. Hence, Pincemin emerged in the late 1960s as an influential member of the Supports/Surfaces movement, who took an interest in materiality and investigating the full spectrum of the pictorial field. Pincemin left the group in 1974 and returned to the more classical painterly tools of the easel and the paintbrush. Nevertheless, he continued to explore the harmony and contrasts of colour in his work, demonstrating his quest for a geometric organisation determined by chromatic values. This lot is subject to Artist's Royalty . Artist’s Royalty In accordance with Danish copyright law, an additional royalty fee is to be paid for the purchase of works by contemporary Danish artist and some international artists who are either still alive or who have been dead for less than 70 years. × Read more
