The monumental album Compendium of Birds (鳥譜), painted by Jiang Tingxi (1669 – 1732) and commissioned by the Kangxi Emperor, was one of the most important Imperial works in the Qing Dynasty in the field of both bird and flower painting and natural history. Its significance was well understood by the Qianlong emperor who commissioned a meticulous copy of the work to be made by artists Zhang Weibang (張維邦, 1725 – 1775) and Yu Sheng (余省, 1692 – 1767). The Palace Museum still retains the Qianlong era copies but the originals are missing from their collection. Only a limited number of album leaves from the original set have ever arrived on the market and a set of six works is exceptionally rare. *For a full condition report, please contact the department.* *请您联系我们索取品项报告。*
