John Leech (British, 1817-1864) Four Prints from Hunting-Incidents: A Capital Finish; Hold Tight Master George; Don't Move There-We Shall Clear You; and Mr. Torrocks (log) "Come hup! I Say-You ugly brute!" Signed and titled in the plates, published by Thomas Agnew & Sons, London, 1865. Chromolithographs on paper, images sizes to 16 5/8 x 24 5/8 in. (42.0 x 62.5 cm), framed. Condition: Capital Finish with prominent foxing, all with toning, not examined out of frames. N.B. The four plates at hand were originally issued for the portfolio Hunting-Incidents of 'The Noble Science' by John Leech The prints were after subjects included in Leech's exhibition Sketches in Oil at the Egyptian Hall, Piccadilly, June 1862. The portfolio was published by Thomas Agnew & Sons in 1865. Each print was inscribed on the mount with a facsimile signature, and title or caption in facsimile, and with "Published by Thos. Agnew & Sons/London Manchr. & L'pool, Jany. 2nd. 1865" on the lower right. The chromolithograph A Capital Finish, with an image size slightly larger than the other three, was embossed to simulate the texture of oil paint on canvas.
