JOHN WATERS Group of Christmas Cards, Postcards and a Gary Indiana photograph presented to Brigid Berlin An interesting group comprising an original portrait photograph of Waters taken and signed in 2001 by Gary Indiana and inscribed "For Brigid," 8 1/2 x 11 inches (22 x 28 cm), small ink spot in margin ; four circa 2014 signed postcards from Waters to Berlin; and four of Waters' famous Christmas gifts including a purple ornament inscribed "Season's Greetings/John Waters" from 2013 and three signed cards (two quite elaborate!), minor handling wear . A fine group of John Waters items signed to Brigid Berlin an actress he held in the highest esteem since childhood. Interviewed for the remarkable 2000 documentary Pie in the Sky: The Brigid Berlin Story , Waters says: "She was always my favorite Warhol star. Everyone in the Warhol Factory was generally known for being gorgeous, so Brigid was the one that stood out to me, she would be nude, you know, at all times which I think is great confidence... I used to see her sometimes on St. Mark's Place and I would just follow her, like a stalker, she never knew it, but just to see. She was such a star to me, more than any of the other people in real movies that were playing then. And I used to see her on the street and she always had a bomber jacket on looking scary as always so I was always just a big, big fan of hers right from the beginning." Later in the documentary, Waters' explains how in casting Brigid Berlin and other Warhol Superstars in his films he was paying tribute to Andy and the scene that had influenced him as a young artist. Brigid Berlin played supporting roles in Waters' Serial Mom (1994) and Pecker (1998) and the two remained close friends. C Estate of Brigid Berlin
