Jones (John). [1572], [8], 35 [i.e. 34], [4] leaves, decorative border to title, numeral '13' of imprint date inked out, ink spot to lower outer blank margin corner, woodcut printer's device to verso, black letter text, without two folding tables (provided in photocopy, folded & loosely inserted), leaf 34 misnumbered 35, K3 contains an address from the author and errata, printer’s name from colophon (K4), light damp staining to upper blank margins of few leaves, early 20th century sheep, morocco title label to spine, joints cracked, spine worn at head & foot, scuffed, slim 4to (18 x 12.5cm) (Qty: 1) STC (2nd ed.), 14724a.3; Wellcome 3475. This work was also issued as part 4 of the issue of "A briefe, excellent, and profitable discourse, of the naturall beginning of all growing and living things, heate, generation, effects of the spirits, government, use and abuse of phisicke, preservation, &c." (the expanded reissue, STC 14725). Jones was a Welsh physician who frequented the baths at Buxton and Bath. His patrons, Henry Herbert, earl of Pembroke and George Talbot, earl of Shrewsbury, are the dedicatees of these two works.
