Der Wiener Maler Karl Kaufmann bekannt für seine verträumten, ätherischen Landschaftsvisionen, signierte seine Werke unter der einfallsreichen Verwendung zahlreicher Pseudonyme, stets mit abgekürztem Vornamen. Zwar ist das hier verwendete «L. Hugo» noch wenig bekannt, doch deuten der feingliedrige Pinselduktus, das wildromantische, idyllische Motiv und die einfühlsame, detaillierte Naturauffassung auf den Stil des berühmten Schülers der Wiener Akademie hin.

The Viennese painter Karl Kaufmann known for his dreamy, ethereal landscape visions, signed his works under the imaginative use of numerous pseudonyms, always with an abbreviated first name. Although the «L. Hugo» used here is still little known, the delicate brushstroke, the wild and romantic, idyllic motif and the sensitive, detailed view of nature indicate the style of the famous student of the Vienna Academy.
